Souper Bowl Rules

On Wednesday, April 1, the Club will be hosting Souper Bowl 2026, a Soup Cook Off, and we’re calling on all of our members to participate as either entrants or tasters!

For 3 years we’ve held our annual Chili Cook-Off, and for 3 years we’ve received requests for a Soup version of the same event. We’ve heard your requests, so here we go!

If you think you make a mean bowl of Soup and would like to show your Soup cooking prowess and put your dog in the fight, then here are the rules…

  1.  Your Soup must be cooked off-site.
  2.  You must bring a Crock Pot to keep it at a warm serving temperature, an extension cord, and a ladle for serving. The Club cannot provide these items.
  3.  You should arrive at 5:00 pm to set up your Crock Pot and tasting station so it’s ready at 6:00. The Club will provide foam bowls and spoons for the tasters.
  4.  You, and your Soup are to remain anonymous until all judging ballots are cast and tallied. This is a TASTE contest, not a popularity contest.
  5.  There is no cost for you to enter your Soup into the competition. Anyone accompanying you to set up (spouses, friends, etc.) is expected to pay the $10 entry fee.
  6.  There are no separate categories. Soup is Soup, and awesome Soup is awesome.
  7.  You must pre-register to enter. Register by calling or texting Jef at (724) 866-7036, emailing him at jef.zolnier@verizon.net, or notifying him in person at the Club Room Bar. Deadline for registration is  Monday, March 30. “Day of” entries will not be accepted.
  8.  Prizes will be given for Win, Place, and Show (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) based on all ballots cast.

For the folks who just love Soup, we need you too!! You will be the judges and will vote for your favorite! There will be a $10 entry fee for the Soup tasters that evening. The entry fees will be converted to prizes for the winners. In exchange, you’ll get to eat Soup ..a lot of Soup, and you’ll determine the outcome of the competition.

The bar will open that day at 6:00 pm so you can cleanse your palates with a nice cold German beer, the tasting will begin at 6:00 pm, and will conclude when all ballots are cast. The regular kitchen will not be open that evening. The food special will be …Soup!
